Data Science Modules

UC Berkeley Data Science Modules are multidisciplinary Jupyter notebooks that can fit into your classroom regardless of subject area. Topics span ethnic studies, AI, calculus, chemistry, and more.

El Camino College x UC Berkeley collaboration

The modules shared here are the result of a collaboration between El Camino College and UC Berkeley's Division of Computing, Data Science, and Society (CDSS). Faculty at El Camino College worked with UC Berkeley's Data Science Undergraduate Studies (DSUS) team to adapt and develop notebooks that bring data science into courses across disciplines. The modules textbook is the primary output of this collaboration, with notebooks covering topics like CalEnviroScreen environmental justice data, AI, calculus, chemistry, and ethnic studies.

This partnership serves as a model for how community colleges and research universities can co-develop open educational resources that work in both settings.

How to adopt

The modules textbook has instructions on how to download the notebooks into your course. Modules are self-contained, so you can pick the ones that fit your curriculum without adopting a full course.
